NotesIs scenery a natural resource? Can we value beauty for the sake of beauty? This article looks at the beauty of the Cascade Head Scenic-Research Area and explores the implications of human use of the area. “The Cascade Head Act identifies key qualities and uses of distinct landscape subareas within its boundaries, which form the basis of protection for the Area. This paper highlights Cascade Head’s contribution to the evolution of our understanding of scenery as a resource and the new focus it brings for scenery management.” (from the Abstract). The conference was held at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois, on November 7– 9, 2017.
